Raised on his family’s crop and livestock farm south of Benson, Jason was active in 4-H and FFA showing beef cattle and hogs. He attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and St. Paul for his undergraduate and professional degrees receiving a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and Certificate in Swine Medicine. While in college Jason worked at the Morris Veterinary Center during school breaks to gain experience in a practice setting. Following graduation from veterinary school in the spring of 2009, he worked for three years in a clinic in southeastern Minnesota before returning to the Morris Veterinary Center in the fall of 2012. Although trained to work with the common domestic species of animals, he enjoys production medicine and consulting for beef, dairy, and swine operations. His professional affiliations include memberships with the American Veterinary Medical Association, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Swine Veterinarians, and NMC. Included among his hobbies is maintaining a small, registered herd of Simmental-influenced beef cattle with some of those cattle being exhibited at local, state, and national shows in addition to finding time for golfing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
